
Years ago, we spoke with a bright young doctor who was working on finding treatments for rare or unusual diseases that did not have cures. Dr. David Fajgenbaum first accomplished this goal in saving his own life, finding a treatment that kept his Castleman disease under control. This immune system disorder responded to a medication often used to treat transplant recipients. And that started his quest to investigate repurposed drugs.
