  1. Saving Money on Medicines

You need to update this very valuable publication. At least one of the recommended firms was forced out of business by the government, earlier this year(2018).

  2. Paying cash may be cheaper than insurance co-pay.

Recently I had my levothyroxin refilled, but due to icy conditions could not reach the pharmacy. I went to a nearby one but was forced to pay cash. The price was higher, but when I got home I found out that I had a 90 day supply instead of the usual 30 day supply. It is much cheaper for me to pay a higher cash price four times a year than the co-pay twelve times a year.

Since then I discovered that some insurance companies have gag-orders requiring that retail pharmacists not reveal that cash pay is cheaper than using the insurance. This is unconscionable. Now I will always check the price of cash pay vs. covered price – particularly for maintenance medications.

My Levothyroxine doubled in price! I am now on Silver Scripts and when I called to complain, they offered me SYNTHROID at a lower price than the Levothyroxine. I had the Doc call in the Synthroid and of course when I went to pick it up, it was over $100. I then, like it or not, had to suck up my anger and take the Levothyroxine at $37.99 when the previous cost was $20.

I am beyond disgusted! And the owness is NOT on me to write to congressman and other graft-taking politicosI

It is a sad commentary this drug rip off in the greatest country in America. I fear for the future greatly.

And Silver Scripts does not know “jack”………I will be looking for a new benefit come next Medicare enrollment.
