I was given Cefdinir 500mg because I had a bad UTI, but was afraid to take for I am allergic to Pencillin, and according to our pharmacist this medication does or has some relationship to Pencillin, our doctor was called but said I still needed to take it. It was bad, as I had a very upset stomach, could not take my diabetic and hypertension medication, even food, with out throwing up everything. Took this Cefdinir for 10 days twice a day, don’t want to go there again.

I’m on day 8 of a delayed allergic reaction from taking Cefdinir. Started on my tenth and final day of the dosing regimen. Hives and swelling around the lips, heart burn, I was told to take Benadryl, start a Medrol pack, and was prescribed my very first Epi pen. Yay.

This is my first allergic reaction ever and I can’t wait for it to be over. I’ve read that some develop chronic hives or other autoimmune problems after reactions like this. I pray that’s not my case.

Oh, and I’m starting to have side effects from the Medrol pack. That’s how I came upon your website. Great prednisone review.

Loved your book years ago. Just found your website and it is already helpful. Have 11 year old with recurring Asthma/sinus infections and rounds of amoxicillin with no real success. Read your article from the AMA on ammoxicillins ineffectiveness. Dr. wrote me a script for it again, I said he needs something else. Cefdinir (10 scary hours of finding it hard to breathe with abuterol and nebulizer) the Cefdinir kicked in! Second night he breathed so quietly (no more freight train) I had to keep checking to make sure he was ok. He dropped his head below his shoulders and no pounding pain.
THANK YOU! He would still be sick and going probably for another round of useless amoxicillin. The pharmacist said at some point they will just stop offering it because it has become ineffective. He is better because I went to your site for information.
