Is there anything people can do to cut their exposure to endocrine disruptors such as BPA and phthalates? Researchers recruited a small number of volunteers based on their high use of canned and packaged foods. Nearly two dozen subjects had urine collected before, during and after the intervention, which entailed eating only fresh foods for three days. During the time that their diets included almost no packaged foods, the amount of BPA and phthalates in their urine dropped off sharply. The authors conclude that sticking with fresh food limits exposure to phthalates and BPA.

    I, too, would like to know if frozen foods (veggies and fruits, especially) have these chemicals in them.

    I found your article on “endocrine disruptors” very interesting, but what are BPA and phthalates??
    PEOPLE’S PHARMACY RESPONSE: BOTH BPA (BISPHENOL A) AND PHTHALATES ARE USED IN THE MANUFACTURE OF PLASTICS. PHTHALATES ARE ALSO USED IN MANY BODY CARE PRODUCTS/COSMETICS.
