Fish against Macular Degeneration

Research keeps accumulating that fish oil is good for the heart, the brain, and the joints. Now there is increasing evidence that people who eat fish once a week or more are less likely to develop age-related macular degeneration. This is the leading cause of blindness among older Americans. The study included 2,500 people between 65 and 84. They filled out questionnaires about their food habits and had eye exams. There was no relationship in the overall risk of macular degeneration, but those who ate fatty fish frequently were 60 percent less likely to have an advanced form of the disease. Since fish has so many health benefits, striving for a minimum of one serving a week makes sense.
