Age Limit Lowered for Pregnancy Prevention

Emergency contraception, often referred to (inaccurately) as the morning-after pill, will now be sold over-the-counter. Plan B One-Step will become available for young women who are at least 15 years old.
Currently, the ingredient in Plan B, levonorgestrel, is sold behind the counter only to buyers who are at least 17. Under the new agreement, Plan B One-Step will become available on pharmacy shelves but will require proof of age to purchase. The new decision from the FDA came after the agency determined that 15-year-olds were capable of understanding how the product works and how to use it correctly.
