Q. I absolutely get relief from my migraines with ice cream. Starbucks Frappuccinos are just as good or better. Any combination of cold and carbohydrates is great. Add caffeine and protein (the milk in ice cream) and you've got a real winner. It can actually cure my migraine sometimes if I catch it early enough.
A. Thank you for the testimonial. It is good to have a reliable remedy to try, since standard medicines for migraine, such as sumatriptan (Imitrex), are pricey.

I've been doing this for a few years now. I make my own blended coffee drink at home and it does help to stop the pain of a mild migraine.
I can't wait to get a head ache!!! lol!!! :)
About once every 2-3 months I wake up with a headache that I know is going to make me ill for approximately 5 days. The headache gets progressively worse and by the third day there is not a comfortable position for me and I have to sit in a hot shower just to get relief. Nothing relieves the pain, although cold medicines help me sleep but with the naggy headache in the background.
Last week, I woke up with the headache. On the second day I suddenly craved some ice cream cones called "Drumsticks". I bought a box of them and had to eat one while in my car. The second I bit into the ice cream, my headache went away. I was afraid it might just be temporary, but it never came back, I never had the progression of illness that always follows. My personal theory is it is the cold that works... perhaps calming down an irritated nerve that previously took several days to calm down. I am going to try just plain ice on the roof of my mouth the next time; but will gladly eat the ice cream if the ice doesn't work.
I stumbled on this remedy several years ago. Yes, if I catch it early on, the ice cream solution will stop a mild migraine without the side effects of the prescription medication. And it tastes much better!
