Bisphenol A, or BPA, is widely used in manufacturing plastic containers, the lining of cans, and some cash register receipts. This chemical acts as a endocrine disruptor, mimicking estrogen in the body. New research in mice suggests that BPA exposure while the fetus is developing may cause cellular changes that predispose the infant mouse to an increased risk for breast cancer later in life. BPA appears to be acting like DES, known as diethylstilbestrol. New research confirms that women who were exposed to DES in utero have nearly twice the usual risk of breast cancer in middle age.

Being and animal advocate, it's too bad they have to use mice to figure that out! Not directing that to you, just bringing up as food for thought.

I find your web site very informative, and have always read your articles in the newspaper.
Thanks,
Laurie

I also read in a health magazine that can affect and produce neurological problems and sterility (and women getting pregnant) in men... and other health problems/illnesses.

I would like for you to expand on this., What kind of plastics, and what kind of cans?

I read in several health magazines: any cans (specially containing tomatoes or acid foods) that have a white film to protect the food from the metal - that film contains BPA- hard water bottles and very thin plastics water bottles and other drinks -specially #3, 7.... (but other plastics are been investigated), it is better to use, glass or stainless steel, or ceramic. Some store receipts, bell mason jars (the cover contains BPA) some frozen foods, and pots and pans ALSO, DIOXINS... MANY FOODS CONTAIN DIOXINS that can cause cancer and other illnesses... dioxins are chemicals from pesticides and toxic chemicals on the water, air, land... these toxics are eaten by animals or fish and pass them to humans. YOU CAN google it and will find lots of information on this. Some doctors now are saying or thinking that some types of breast cancer and other cancers are due to BPA and other toxic chemicals in our food and water.
