Valtrex Vanquished Plantar Warts

Q. I have suffered from plantar warts since high school. I am now 55 years old. I have tried surgery, freezing and salicylic acid. Nothing worked.
Recently I had shingles and was prescribed Valtrex for 10 days. Besides curing my shingles, Valtrex cured my plantar warts. Are there any studies about this?

A. Although there are no controlled studies of this treatment for plantar warts, we found a report of two cases in the medical literature reinforcing your experience (American Journal of Medicine, June, 2005).
