Alcohol Boosts Risk from Breast Cancer

Women who have breast cancer should probably avoid alcohol. Data reported at the San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium showed that women who consume at least three drinks a week are 50 percent more likely to die of their breast cancer compared to women who don’t drink. Breast cancer is one-third more likely to recur in women who consume alcohol compared to those who abstain. The most common beverage in the study was wine, but the researchers believe that any type of alcohol is likely to be a problem.
