Q. I have had warts off and on for years and tried many different things to get rid of them. The only one that has been effective is eggplant. I know it sounds weird, but it works.
Cut a piece of eggplant flesh big enough to cover the wart and secure it to the skin with a bandage every night. The wart dries up and peels off like a scab.
If the wart is on your foot, I suggest using a wrap and a sock to keep the eggplant in place overnight. Put a fresh piece on every night until the wart is healed.
Standard wart remedies were painful and the warts just grew back afterwards. I have never had any grow back after using the eggplant cure.
A. We have heard of many approaches to curing warts, including using the inside of a banana peel against the wart. This is the first we have heard of using eggplant.

With flu season here I am concerned about getting a flu shot again this year. Even though I had been getting one for at least five years, last year I had a bad reaction to it. I'm allergic to sulfa drugs and after receiving the vaccine I had a reaction similar to that of taking a sulfa drug although much milder.
I got a dry scratchy throat and a slight cough. My voice also became scratchy until I took an antihistamine tablet. No swelling of my face or hands or trouble breathing as in the reaction to sulfa drugs. I am not allergic to eggs. Have you ever heard of this before?
I had a wart on my neck and I used Listerine a couple of times to soak it.
3 weeks later it fell off. I am testing the power of Listerine on some other ailments.
My grandson has warts on his feet. He is currently going to a dermatologist and he must be burning them off. He has had numerous breakouts of these warts but they seem to be coming back strong.
Last week he had a treatment and he has to use crutches to get around and is in pain.
Could you suggest what causes them and how to get rid of them since they are still there.
PEOPLE'S PHARMACY RESPONSE: WARTS ARE CAUSED BY A COMMON VIRUS. THERE IS NO MEDICINE THAT KILLS THE VIRUS, BUT MANY TREATMENTS CAN BE HELPFUL, RANGING FROM THE ONE YOUR GRANDSON IS RECEIVING TO SOAKING THE FEET IN HOT (BUT NOT BURNING) WATER FOR AN HOUR ONCE OR TWICE A WEEK.
My teenage daughter had large warts on her thumbs and forefingers of both hands. We used both treatments prescribed by her doctor and over-the-counter treatments, all to no avail. The problem was that she wouldn't use them consistently. I kept urging her to use a remedy that I had read about, rubbing them with the inside of a banana peel. She wouldn't hear of it. When they became so bad that the warts had started growing under her nails, in desperation she used the banana peel.
Three days later she showed me her hands--the warts were half their size. She used it again. Within a week they had totally disappeared. She is now a believer. She had these warts for over a year. It goes to show you that a natural treatment like a banana peel is worth trying. It just may work.
I had three large planters warts on my foot and my doctor told me to try eggplant. I was skeptical at first, but after two weeks they were gone!
Does the eggplant and bandage have to be kept on night and day or only during the night? How long before the wart is gone?
