Cases of H1N1 flu continue to rise throughout the northern hemisphere. Schools are reporting absences above normal for this time of year, and many hospitals are experiencing great demand for emergency services. The H1N1 vaccine will not become widely available for several more weeks. That means most people don't have an effective way to deal with this pandemic flu.
The World Health Organization states that antivirals, particularly Tamiflu and Relenza, remain effective against this influenza virus if used early in the course of the illness. Although experts have worried about resistance, this does not yet seem to have become a big problem. US health authorities discourage widespread use of Tamiflu. They recommend that this antiviral medicine be reserved for people at high risk of complications from influenza.

My friend has 2 daughters that last week were "diagnosed" with the H1N1.
Though when tested at the doctor's office, they tested only for strain "A" flu. When she spoke with a nurse working at the hospital, she advised that the hospital is only testing those people w/ flu symptoms if they are in ICU. And that if anyone that tests positive, for other types, such as "A", they are ASSUMING it is H1N1 and reporting it as such. WHAT?
The government wants us to think it is an epidemic when it is just the "this-time-of-year", "run-of-the-mill", ordinary flu?!? Who is benefiting from this erroneous reporting? The drug companies pushing and insisting on this vaccine? Is it a coincidence that this so-called epidemic is breaking out during the health care fiasco in Congress?
Oh, and by the way, both daughters were well enough to return to school in 4 days, and neither of the parents contracted the "dreaded virus". Sounds like a hoax to me.
