I live in Durham (64 years old), and my dentist is suggesting I use a fluoride mouthwash in addition to the fluoridation of the Durham city water. He says that the benefit of the fluoride in the water is that it bathes the teeth during drinking, rather than the internal absorption. Durham City water contains about 1 mg/liter of H2SiF6. The mouthwashes contain 0.02% NaF (200 mg/L). If I start using the mouthwash every night (without swallowing it), could I be getting too much fluoride?
