I devoloped a bad infection at a surgery site, which was a repair of Trigger Thumb on right hand. I am going to have the same thing done to the left hand. I suggested to the doctor whether or not I should start taking an antibiotic hopefully to prevent another infection on the left hand. He agreed and gave me an Rx for 'Ciprofloxacin' 500mg twice a day. I read here it's for ear infection. Is this a problem?

PEOPLE'S PHARMACY RESPONSE: CIPROFLOXACIN (CIPRO) CAN BE USED FOR A RANGE OF INFECTIONS. YOUR DOCTOR OBVIOUSLY FELT IT IS APPROPRIATE AS A PREVENTIVE.

Ciprofloxacin is a wide spectrum antibiotic that has healed my lung, ear, and hand infections and I applaud my MD for RXing it.
