I guess I am the enemy...This past year, when my son came down with autism, we made some drastic diet changes. We have him on the Specific Carbohydrate Diet, a whole foods gluten-free/grain-free diet. And the rest of the household is also whole foods, no processed foods, cut sugar intake by 75 %, added omega-3's and uncovered some hidden food allergies. The result, my child's autism is drastically reduced, the snot nose is gone, the hyperactivity is gone. Our household intake of allergy medication and decongestants is nil, our energy levels are great. None of this was easy to achieve or "fun" at first.

Sugar and fast food withdrawal was painful the first week. But eating right gets easier over time. If we truly want health care reform we would clean up our pantry's. But instead, as a nation, we would rather find a way to keep putting garbage into our bodies and "spread the cost evenly" for our lousy health. Until patients and doctors understand the impact of the modern crappy diet our health will never get better. I do not agree with a "Spread the Cost" national health care policy. I would, however, vote for "National Nutrition Reform".

Thanks!
