Learn prevention tips and common cold remedies in this video with Joe Graedon.

This segment assumes that the only symptom you get from the cold is congestion. What about cough and runny nose? Also, you don't get addicted to the nasal sprays. You only use it for 3 days because it causes rebound congestion after 3 days (i.e. if you use for more than 3 days, your congestion will come back). Also, what if a patient is on warfarin? Would you recommend ginger? It should be avoided because it causes the blood to be too thin, meaning those patients could bleed easier.
People should know this and you really need to ask patients more questions before giving a recommendation. For example, what symptoms do you have (to determine the medications one can use) or what other medications are you taking (for drug-drug interactions)?
