Q. I have found that Activia yogurt is excellent for stopping flatus. One small carton a day stopped most of the problem. Two other friends tried it and they were pleased with the results too.
A. Activia yogurt from Dannon contains live beneficial bacteria called Bifidus regularis. When such probiotic bacteria are included in yogurt, they help digest the milk sugar lactose. People who can’t break lactose down in the gut often suffer flatulence, so perhaps that is the explanation for your unexpected benefit.

I have heard about the many benefits of Dannon Activia yogurt. However, it needs to be noted that Dannon does not guarantee that Activia is gluten-free because of the flavorings used in the yogurt. So for individuals like myself, it is not safe to use Activia. Individuals with gluten intolerance may want to contact Dannon and ask that the probiotics be used in the Dannon plain yogurt as well.
Activia GIVES me flatulence so I don't eat it anymore. I'm fine with Yoplait Light.
I tried Activia for flatulence and it caused diarrhea, which goes on and on although I haven't eaten Activia for three weeks now.
How can I get my intestines back to to normal again?
I find that Activia does help with flatulence from eating a very healthy diet (including beans and broccoli), but don't like that it contains 9 grams of sugar. Is there a nonperscription probiotic for this condition?
