Q. My husband suffered with jock itch for a long time. He would use medicine to clear it up but it always returned. Then he tried applying antiperspirant daily to the affected areas, and this solved the problem.
A. Jock itch is caused by fungus that thrives around moisture. The antiperspirant probably keeps his skin dry and discourages fungal growth.

I have suffered from the same problem for 2 years the first time, I used anti fugal cream but it didn't work. Then after a while the itching disappeared but the smell was still there. Then I just started using antiperspirant to control the smell and after a while everything disappeared. After one year then it came back. Again I used different creams as directed by my doctor but still no difference. Then I used alcohol with iodine to control moisture once or twice a day and after a while it disappeared...
My husband used 3 per cent hydrogen peroxide (35 per cent food grade hydrogen peroxide diluted 1:10 with filtered water) sprayed onto his groin area, then left to dry, morning and evening. The spray did not sting in any way. The jock itch soon went away, and has never come back (2 years now). This is an effective and cheap remedy.
