Miracle Whip Scrubs Scales

Q. For several months now I have had a problem with a scaly flaky scalp. I finally went to the doctor who prescribed medicated shampoo and mometasone topical solution. Nothing worked. Then a friend suggested I try Miracle Whip. I rub it into my scalp and leave it in a couple of hours. It has worked wonders and I now have a flake-free scalp. Any idea why?

A. We checked the ingredients in Miracle Whip. They are: water, soybean oil, vinegar, high fructose corn syrup, sugar, modified food starch, egg yolks, salt, mustard flour, artificial color, potassium sorbate, spice, paprika, natural flavor and dried garlic. We can’t imagine why any of these compounds would clear the flakes from your scalp but others have praised Miracle Whip as a good hair conditioner.

About 10 years ago my dermatologist suggested I stop using ALL topical notions and lotions as I am allergic to them all. I am also allergic to all materials except soft cotton (My Mom had this condition, as does my little grandson).

Twice a day I rub on olive oil for my skin. On the weekends I also use it as a hair conditioner.

You may very well be ALLERGIC to your shampoos. I know I can use them only for about 2 weeks at a time and then have to change to another product. No matter what I use, no matter how salon costly, it's always the same.

By strictly using olive oil, I have solved all of my topical skin problems. As the doc said, "If it was good enough for Cleopatra, it's good enough for you!"

The person allegic to all shampoos may be allergic to propylene glycol, which is in a most shampoos, soaps and toothpastes. A friend's child had had severe eczema and itching since age 3, and just this spring they found out that this was the ingredient causing all her problems and discomfort. The girl is now 12 and 1/2 and is finally itch and rash free, now that they have gotten the products that don't have this ingredient.

The listerine "used for itching scalp" is wonderful. This has helped greatly.
Thank you . I read your column every Thurs. & look forward to hearing tips.

Either Adelle Davis or Linda Clarke advised that plain mayonnaise was spectacular for the skin. One of them, back in the 50s or early 60s recounted a story about going into a restaurant and being amazed at the stunning condition of her waitress's face. She asked her WHAT do you use on your face to get such remarkable skin, and the waitress explained that several times during her work shift, she'd rub plain mayonnaise all over her face, and then open up the steam oven, and let the wet heat envelope her head.

So, I suspect that there might be alot of people who are familiar with similar "Mayonnaise Cures," as both of the above authors wrote a slew of bestsellers about nutrition & healing.
