Hypnosis has a long history, but in many circles it seems to have a questionable reputation. Although Mesmer’s showmanship (remember mesmerism) may have given hypnosis a bad name, modern health care providers are using the practice to enhance health. What is hypnosis and how can it help you? She is the author of Medical Hypnosis—An Introduction and Critical Guide, a textbook for medical students, and The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Hypnosis.
