Warts are extremely susceptible to home remedies, and many have been developed for this common condition. One of our favorites is readily available at any grocery store. Tape a small piece of banana skin (with the fleshy side towards the wart) over the wart at bedtime. Leave it on overnight. Some people report that warts given this treatment daily disappear within weeks. One reader wrote: "My insurance company paid $600 for a dermatologist to burn warts off my fingers (three treatments). Such pain! When I heard that you could rub the inside of a banana peel on warts I started treating my fingers. A month later my fingers are smooth and pain-free at no cost."

After a year of dedication to using store bought remedies, I searched online and tried this banana solution. I used a piece of banana peel that probably measured an inch by an inch. I overdid the width just to be safe, and I rubbed the inside of it across the surface of the wart before taping it onto that area with moving tape to hold it in place. After just one night, the wart on the underside of my foot came off. I continued applying banana peel just in case; three days later, it was completely gone and the skin began to rejuvenate. Wonderful! :) Relief!!! (I kept the banana peel in a baggie and put it in the fridge). Good luck everyone!

I had a cluster of warts on the bottom of my foot and nothing seemed to work. The duct tape was tried the longest at no avail. Superglue did the trick in a couple of weeks.

I used to use duct tape all the time. I was in and out of the doctor's office with several treatments that never kept the warts away when a nurse told me about the tape. Duct tape works, but you can't just use it at night, you have to leave it on for a week or so. Your skin will turn really soft as well, but it doesn't hurt. I would put band-aids over the duct tape to avoid questions of why I had duct tape stuck to me. After a year of treating any and all warts that way, they never came back.

My son plays collegiate golf and is 20 now. He had warts on his thumb and both index fingers for years. The dermatologist had tried numerous times to burn or freeze the warts. They always grew back. A couple of months ago I read about the banana peel and decided to try it. He is now wart free.

I just read about another wart remedy: rub a piece of potato over the wart, and bury the potato in the yard.
Really. I read it in the Oregonian, I think.

I just have a question: how do the banana peels cure the warts? What's in the banana peels that cure them? Please...anyone. Anwser as soon as you can. Thanks.

I am trying this with my daughter now. I read that it has to do with the high concentration of pottasium in the banana peel.

An answer to Sally: apparently, there is salicylic acid in banana peels which causes the warts to dry and fall off. I've heard that the warts don't come back, so I suppose you could call this a cure. I'm trying it right now but I've only done it for one night so far.

I have tried duct tape and athletic tape, neither worked after 2 mo solid use each. Tried getting it frozen off by doctor, didn't work. Tried the potato, didn't work. In fact they all seemed to make it worse after making it a little better at first.

Another use of the banana: as an intercoastal fisherman I am often attacked by yellow flies, which sting ferociously. I wipe the soft interior of the banana on my bare spots and OLA!, no yellow flies will bite. (Now and then I feel one "bump" but no stings.)

I had a wart surgically removed. It came back. I then spent many days over a nine-month period in a dermatologist's office trying many different treaments. I had finally given up and told him I would not be returning. After hearing this, he suggested I try Tagmet the antacid. I began taking the generic cimetidine (200mg per day), and the wart went away in less than 2 weeks and has never returned.

My son had a wart and the doctor couldn't remove it. I put a slice of aloe plant on it and it left. I wonder what causes warts.

My pediatrician says that warts are caused by a virus... and are contagious, just like any virus.

PLEASE wash your hands after touching the wart, at all.

This truly works. I had over 10 warts all over my feet. It definitely wasn’t a pleasant site and I had great difficulty walking at times too. I tried all kinds of treatments from over the counter plasters, banana peels, burning and laser treatments. But they just kept coming back and even expanding.

Finally a friend of mine recommended that I try homeopathy and it was MAGIC. It is totally non-invasive and painless. Although it is a time consuming treatment it is the most effective.

I had a cluster of plantar warts which I had treated by a dermatologist. She used a liquid nitrogen spray. It was excruciatingly painful; my ureteral stone was less painful. The warts persisted after treatment for 3 months.

treated them with warm water soaks followed by use of a pumice stone, and duct tape which I kept on 24 hrs./day. The warts went away and stayed away after about 6 wks.of treatment.

I made a paste of fresh-scraped turmeric root, and just taped it on a gently filed wart, and it just disappeared... and I mean that, the skin must have fallen off with the removed paste one time, but it was gone in three pastes. Bright pink fresh smooth skin grew in the black specked hole that was left behind after the third bandaid was removed. Impressed me.

We had tried salicylic acid tape from the pharmacy and it always burned off all the good skin around it and left the wart intact. Duct tape didn't work even with filing the wart with a soft nail file made for pedicures before putting the tape back on. Tried MANY cold freezes at the doctor's office. Many, many cold freezes at home. Not a lot of warts, just the three, but they were the most stuborn three warts you have ever seen on the bottom of my daughter's foot... and they hurt her terribly. After they fell off they never came back.

Try the turmeric from the health food store, fresh from the root, just a little lump like a pea size of scrapings, and tape it on and stick it in a sock (the stuff is neon yellow and stains bedding) at night, and keep on as long as possible. Change next night. It's worth a try... And no, I have no idea why it works, I was just told by someone at work that it worked for them.

My mum had a wart on her foot long ago, and told me the story of a lady telling her to cut a potato in half, and then digging a hole in her backyard to bury it. It went away for her, and shortly after she told me this story, mine went away too. I have about 3- 4 on each foot and I had tried many drugstore options, but nothing seemed to work. If you ask me, it's mind over matter.

Banana peels work the best! Even though my one and only wart has to be treated twice a year, it goes away after taping the banana peel on that spot overnite for about 5 nites. It is so cool! I read this remedy in Ann Landers about 5 yrs ago. Leave it to Ann.

I'm bothered by many skin tags all over my body. Has anyone tried the banana peel for this?

I believe it is 100% mind over matter. My husband and I went to California and our trip was being ruined by a plantar wart he had on the bottom of one of his feet. I convinced him that if he put his bare foot in the lake nearby that it would go away. Guess what??? It is gone, never to return.

My dermatologist told me he removes small skin tags by just picking them off with his fingernails. I've tried it successfully. Just be sure your hands are clean and you do it as soon as you see one growing. Also, larger ones can be removed by tying a string around them. Tie it tight and remove the excess string. If the tag is large, it might take a few days. This has been confirmed by another derm. My grandpa used to do the same for warts.

I had a horrible case of warts on my hands years ago, must have had hundreds of tiny warts. And I am positive I got them from picking up a toad frog. Some say that can't happen, but I have read on the internet that they carry this virus on their skin. I had them burned off in several sessions and they kept coming back. It was very painful.

Finally my doctor gives me a script for a cream to treat vaginal warts. Very embarassing to fill it, the pharmacist gave me a strange look. It was very expensive, but my insurance paid for it. I think there were seven packs of it and my doctor told me to use it everyday but put in the freezer so it won't go bad. It worked but took about a month. She said it would build an immunity to them, so far so good.

My son has had them, but not as bad. I am going to have him try the banana peel, I hate to put him through the pain of getting them burned off. Especially when it doesn't always work. He wants to try the over the counter treatment to burn them off. I don't think it will work. I tried the potato thing when I was a kid, and it worked one time but not the next. I think it is in your head, and if you believe it will work, it will. The banana sounds like there is a little more science then a rotting potato.

I have a wart below my underarm, and it feels uncomfortable when I wear my bra. Can anyone tell me how to remove it?

I have had this plantars wart for a good year. This is my 1st and nothing has worked so far. I've bought dr scholls, clear away, used the duct tape, had it frozen twice, you name it! But I read an article on bannana peels and how it will work to remove the p. wart, and so today I tried it. I don't know if it will remove it, but it's doing something right; I cut a piece and put it on my foot w. duct tape, and as soon as I put it on, the pain went away. This is the first time I've been able to stand on my foot, and I mean completely on my foot, all weight with no pain, and if you have ever had one you know the pain that comes with a plantars wart, so that was amazing to me. Like I said, I don't know if it will remove it, but if u want the pain gone, go in the kitchen and grab a banana. It really works. Hope I could help.

What about fungal toe nails (onychomycosis)?
Any home remedies for this vexatious and endemic malady?

I have a wart on my finger and used the medicated acid bandages, but they just killed the skin around it. I began to peel back the dead layers to find a nasty yellowish circle deep inside the wound. I guess this is the root of the wart and now I have applied the bananna skin... we shall see the progress!

i have had the banana peel on for almost 3 days all the time even at night. when i change the peel in the morning or at night my finger really hurts and the wart and the area around it is very white and wrinkly. is this normal and how long do i keep doing this??

When I was about 12 I had a triple wart on my little toe. Mother took me to the dr. and had it diagnosed. then she took cinnamon oil and dropped it with a tooth pick just on the wart. She did this several times a day for about three days and the wart went away.

For toe nails with fungus, soak feet daily with a few drops of tea tree oil.

Banana will also work on scars and some other skin imperfections.

The banana approach was mentioned long ago in a book on tropical folk medicine. A family member had an unevenly healed patch on his forehead from a fall -- and, after three days, the skin surface was clearly more level and the color was uniform.

So, my recommendation would be that you should try a banana compress on other skin conditions, at least where there is no open or unhealed wound.

What do you do if the "wart" is in a difficult place...such as right over/slightly on your upper lip? It is whitish, small but bothers me alot. (I'm assuming it's a wart).

Should I try the banana peel? Any help would be greatly appreciated~~~

I have several warts on many of my fingers right by my nail bed. They hurt terribly when I accidentally hit them. I've tried burning them and freezing them at the doctor. I can't keep doing this because I'm afraid it will destroy my nail bed; and I will no longer have nails on 5 of my fingers. Plus they are way too painful to keep freezing them over and over. I have even tried duct tape. This banana peel remedy sounds too good to be true but I'm willing to give it a shot. At this point, Im desperate.

All you have to do to cure warts is think them away. Many years ago I had several painful warts on my fingers, went to a dermatologist to have them burned off. Not only did that hurt, it left scars. During this process he told me that he was able to rid *children* of warts by subjecting them to some hocus-pocus ritual which they believed, and so so the warts went away by themselves. Why? Because the kids *believed* it would work. So it did. He burned off two warts for me, but I *thought* away the remainder. Works, folks.

hello,
I have read your articles and am very anxious to try the banana peel on my daughter's foot. She has had a plantar's wart on her heel for years and yes, we have tried it all.
Will keep you posted to see how it works!

I had never had a wart until I moved to Maine at age 49. The kids got them at school and eventually I got them too. I had one on the joint of my thumb that was painful. In desperation, I soaked a half sheet paper towel with balsamic vinegar, folded it up as small as I could and taped it in place. The tape gave up after two days, but the pain was gone, so I removed it. All that was left was a hole with some black spots and this disappeared with no further treatment in less than a week.

i have a wart on the side of my finger and on my palm . i'm thinking of trying the banana peel. how long does it usually take for it to go away & what do you do ? change it every night or what ?

Try Vicks Vapo Rub for toenail fungus. Be patient and it will work. The fungus should never return. I applied Vicks liberally to my toenails (top, bottom and under the nails) every single night and wore socks. I also applied it at other times during the daytime, whenever I had the chance. Make sure you get it up under the nails too. The fungus disappeared completely and has never returned.

This is for Stacey, who posted a request for a solution to fungal toenails. The solution that has worked in my family and for others I've suggested it to is Tea Tree Oil. Soak your feet (or hands if the problem is in you fingernails) in nice warm water for about 10-15 min. Gently clean out all of the "gunk" that a fungal infection creates under the nail (I always disinfected the nail file after each cleaning). Take the Tea Tree oil and apply it where the nail meets the skin.

Let it soak in. Do this for even just a couple of days and you will start to see a dramatic change. I asked my Dr. why he hadn't told me about it and he said that because it hasn't been approved by the medical association, Dr's aren't allowed to suggest it. Try it and you will be very pleased with the results.

I recently went to the doctor to inquire about the toe fungus - she stated for me to try Tea Tree Oil. Now that I have read the home remedy with the 50/50 mixture of Listerine I will definitely try it.

Thank You

I have several small moles
on my neck and face. they seem to form a cluster, like an archipelago of islands. I had a v. large mole the size of a penny on my neck and one day it became quite brittle and came off in the shower!! The others are still around. Any
thing that has worked for you??

Voila!!!Yes, Vicks VapoRub it is for toenail fungus. I had a bad case in both large toes for years. Every night for almost four months,
(oral Lamicil takes about a year for serious infections)I scraped out 'gunk', scrubbed toes clean with antibacterial soap and a.c.vinegar, dried toes,
applied liberal Vicks up, down, esp. under nail and skin and applied plastic sandwich bags over entire toes and lower foot w/ fairly snug rubberband or hairband around instep for overnight sleeping .

Nails began to soften in two weeks, and the 'half moons' began reappearing in three to four weeks. I suffered great shoe pain with this infection but it has left me, about nine months now. Definitely must be patient, but it works!!

I have tried so, so, so, so very many things for the warts on the bottom of my foot. They stretch from my large toe to the balls of my feet, and I hate them! I went to the doctor for cold freezes (never, ever go for those; they are a waste of money and time), I've tried aloe vera, I've tried duct tape, and...well, just name something; I've tried it all!
I am going to try this banana peel solution. I've seen so many others with supposedly "miraculous" results, I don't know if I fully believe it. But, if this really does work, you'll hear from me again.

had a wart on head and under the nails. what should i do.

I used a bananna peel to rid my small dog of a wart on his face. Every day for about 2 weeks I just rubbed the wart with the inside of a bannana peel. The wart turned black one day, the next day it fell off. It has never returned, and it sure was easier than having it removed by a laser which the vet had recommended.

Here is a question.. I am developing like 5 warts in my eyes area, where I put my makeup. It doesn't look nice; I cover with the makeup but I am afraid it will spread all over my eyes later. Is it safe to try the banana peel in my eyes? It's in the area under the lashes. Thank you. Maria

PEOPLE'S PHARMACY RESPONSE: ANY LESION ON THE EYES OR EYELIDS DESERVES MEDICAL ATTENTION.

I have a wart on my upper lip, I've tried garlic w/olive oil.... an old remedy.
Didn't work, never went to the doctors, I'd rather use home remedys. Will the banana peel be safe to use on my lip?

I am using vicks vapor rub for the toenail fungus. It seems to be working very well. My dermatologist even said to try it. I've also heard Listerine helps. I use vicks at night and Listerine during the day. Toenails look much better!

Warts, one on the bottom of each foot, were with me at least through college and grad’ school. They were quite tender once in a while, but not a big problem.

A few years later I was a therapist at a child guidance clinic. Our psychiatrist director was a wonderful older gentleman who seemed happiest when he could treat a patient for a cut or bruise. I never knew him to lie or even stretch the truth.

In his desk, in a ornate walnut box, resting on red velvet, he had a magic gold ring. The ring cured warts. After receiving very specific instructions as to where and when and how long to wear the ring, a young patient would be allowed to take the ring home for a week or so. I witnessed one cure. He said that, over the years, it had a success rate of at least 90%.

So one night, after everyone else was sound asleep, I spent about half an hour lying on my back in bed talking to my warts, telling them they were not wanted and should go away. I checked on the warts for a few weeks, saw no change and forgot about the whole deal.

Much later, maybe six months later, I noticed the warts were gone.

And for almost 50 years, no warts. Then, about three months ago, I got scared because a pencil eraser size lump/sore in my beard just was not healing. My Doctor declared it a wart and froze it. So far so good.

But the story does not end there. Suddenly, as if in retaliation for the freeze job on a close friend or relative, a wart appeared on the bottom of my left foot. It quickly became very tender and painful.

Talking to it, telling it to leave appears to not have done the job. Hello banana peel.

I find myself prone to plantars warts. I'm always afraid to go in public pools or showers as I seem to contract them very easily. For years I suffered. The specialist froze and scraped which worked but always came back. I went through treatment for years until I got fed up. What worked for me was putting Dr. Scholl's plantar wart solution and then securing it with a cloth band aid. This worked for my son as well and just after only a few treatments. The warts never came back again. The secret is having the sticky cloth bandage over the solution...will not work without it.

I have 3 warts on my nose. They've been there for about 4 years. At first they were only slightly raised but later on they got bigger. I went to a cosmetic surgeon to get them removed via laser. First treatment, they came back. Second treatment, they came back. I kept applying the ointment he gave me for two weeks but they didn't get any better. One day i was on the internet and I was getting pretty desperate for a cure.

I found websites with loads of testimonials that said that banana peels worked for them and their warts.
I was skeptical but thought what could it hurt; and so here I am with a piece of banana peel band-aided to my nose. This is my first night trying this, I hope it'll work. I'll post back for updates.

It will be the 3rd night I am doing this. What is the approx. amount of time that you see results?

(I use frozen peels)

I've been treating plantar warts on my feet (5 total) with just the duct tape for about three weeks now. I re-apply the duct tape after the shower daily. Smaller warts (3 total) started turning into small holes in the skin after about two weeks. However, one small wart is just sitting there without much change. From day to day I noticed that they look different. It seems they gradually die off on one day, but then try to re-grow another day. One medium size wart got bigger, but then started becoming like a moon crater in the skin, it seems to get a little deeper day by day, but then re-grow a little on another day.

Why did the May 9 last report not continue? Did it work? Please report back, what was your experience?

I am trying the banana peel on a wart on my thumb near the joint that I have had at least 20 years. It is smooth not cauliflower like plantars warts. I was told the usual remedies would not work.

Compound w will get rid of them.

I've had plantar warts on the bottom of my right foot for a year or two. Started off as one, tried to treat it with cold freeze, did nothing.

Saw my doc the other day because I felt pain & there's a whole cluster of them now :(

She suggested banana peel. Banana peel at night and during the day use the medicated Scholl's plantar wart strips. Plus you must pumice stone the wart away between treatments.

I'm onto day 4 right now. Can feel pain sometimes - am hoping it's the wart dying. Area looks pretty horrible due to banana peel softening skin. Will report back on how treatment goes.

My 8 year old daughter has warts that were diagnosed as molluscum. They started on her legs, but have now spread to her chest and arms. She must have over 100 now. I am very concerned they will spread even more. Please let me know if anyone has experience with this particular type of wart and how you treated it. Thank you.

PEOPLE'S PHARMACY RESPONSE: MOLLUSCUM CONTAGIOSUM IS A COMMON PROBLEM IN CHILDREN. IT IS CAUSED BY A VIRUS AND SPREADS THROUGH DIRECT SKIN CONTACT. IT ISN'T USUALLY TREATED, BECAUSE IT WILL EVENTUALLY GO AWAY ON ITS OWN (BUT WHILE SHE HAS IT, SHE CAN SPREAD IT TO OTHER CHILDREN). YOU WILL FIND A VARIETY OF REMEDIES IN THE WIKIPEDIA ARTICLE, BUT YOU SHOULD ASK YOUR PEDIATRICIAN BEFORE DOING ANYTHINIG DRASTIC.

Retin-a, usually used on acne and wrinkles, has cleared my son's melascum. Just a little dab once a day.

Just curious, did all those using the banana peel cure also eat the bananas? There might be a connection to their increase in potassium levels.

Did it eventually go away? As that's also me right now. I was in so much pain, put the banana on and the pain left it, this is my 3rd day with the banana - they're still there but at least I can walk!

This was the very first People's Pharmacy home remedy I tried many years ago and it made a believer out of me!! I tape a piece of banana peel (the inside of the peel against the wart) to the wart overnight and the wart will be gone in usually 3 days. Works every time.

Hi there, the banana peel works - because it has high levels of potassium, which kills the virus... :D - another good wart removal, which I used myself when I was younger is clear nail polish... coat the wart everyday in clear nail polish and within 2 or 3 weeks the wart will be gone and never return.

Did the banana peels work for the warts on your nose? How long did it take? I didn't see any more updates from you.

Well how did it go?

I've heard of many remedies...
Banana peel?
Duct Tape?
Apple Cider Vinegar?
Superglue/clear nail polish/"NuSkin" type treatments?

This is a year after your post. I am also sitting here with a piece of banana skin taped to my nose. I have done this for the last two nights. My wart has lost its crustiness and gone flat,it looked like a cone on the side of my nose and it was holding my glasses up. I am amazed, I cannot believe I am doing this. But some thing is working. I read that having warts is a sign of low potassium.

My daughter had two plantar wart's on her left big toe. After she tried all the over-the-counter remedies, I suggested she soak a cotton ball in apple cider vinegar and apply to the warts after opening them up with a needle in the center. She told me that she did I suggested and only applied the cotton ball once for about 30 minutes. In a couple of days, the warts fell off and have not returned. At the time, I didn't know about the banana peel remedy or I would have suggested that but the apple cider vinegar worked great for her!

Also as a side note, I had a terrible case of athlete's foot after counseling for a youth camp years ago and using the public showers. I used all the OTC stuff and it would help for a little while but then the athlete's foot would come back in full force. I became very frustrated and embarrassed since I couldn't wear sandals as my feet were very unsightly.

I had been reading at the time about the many uses of apple cider vinegar. So, after my shower and completely drying off, I began pouring apple cider vinegar over my feet and allowing it to air dry. I immediately got relief from the awful itching and in a few days my feet began to heal until eventually it was gone completely. I think it took a few weeks for my feet to completely heal. Love that A.C.Vinegar!!

What is homeopathy? Do you mean you used natural stuff? What kind? How much? How often.....

PEOPLE'S PHARMACY RESPONSE: HOMEOPATHY WORKS ON THE PRINCIPLE THAT A LITTLE BIT OF WHAT MAKES YOU SICK WILL MAKE YOU BETTER. IT IS DIFFERENT FROM HOME REMEDIES, AND THOUGH IT USES NATURAL PRODUCTS, NOT ALL NATURAL PRODUCT REMEDIES ARE HOMEOPATHIC.

The best thing for warts is lavender oil.

Banana is one of the remedy for heartburn also. Natural remedies rock.

I have been fighting skin tags for a long time, recently I tried to scrape them off, after compound W, and cover some with compound W band aides, caused a lot of pain and some bad sores, they were on my breast and under my arm, I didn't go any deeper with my trying to get the rest off, which I have many more... I'm am going to try the banana treatment starting tonight 4/16/2011 and will keep a report on what results I can see. If you have any further suggestions I would appreciate any help..

When I was a teenager, I had a lot of warts on my fingers. My Mom had me put fingernail polish on them. I would leave it on a day or so, and then pull or rub off the polish. I continued to do this and each time I would rub the nail polish off, more of the wart came with it. They finally went away and never came back. Not sure how long it took (since that was 55 or so yrs. ago), but I know it wasn't more than a week or two.

Thanks goodness for this site. Several months ago, my naturapath had recommended banana for my planters wart, but instead I have continued on with my Boiron's homeopathic ointment (to no avail). So this morning I taped on a slice of banana, but when I stood up to walk on it, banana squished out between my toes. That was pleasant, reminding me of walking in mud as a child; however realizing something more needed to be checked out, I've just come online. After reading this site, I now remember the doc said banana PEEL! Back to the kitchen for some peel and then a fresh pair of socks!!!

I remember my grandma trying this on my cousin a long time ago (like 30 yrs ago) I'm 43 now. and the warts came off and far as I know, she hasn't had any warts since then.

Starting banana peel treatment July 4 2011... hope this works... haven't tried any other remedies but from what I've heard, I don't really want to try freezing or surgical removal.
I'm going to eat a banana everyday too....

July 6th 2011 I am starting the banana peel and trusting God. I believe its gonna work...will post later......Please let me know how its working for you. My wart is on top of my nose:( Praying for your banana peeling healing :)

I'm starting the banana peel treatment as well. This is my second night. I have tried everything else, except for going to the doctor. I have 2 warts on my middle finger... one on the knuckle and one in the joint.

I am bookmarking this page and will set a reminder for myself to update everyone on what happens within a week or two, depending on how long this takes. Even if it doesn't work, I will do my best to remember to re-post later. I hope I will have good news for us all!!!

I started the banana peel remedy just over 24 hours ago. I have noticed a change in my planters wart. There was a huge crater in the middle of the wart and the skin seems to have leveled off almost completely. Initially the pain got better but is now very tender. I have tried duct tape before and thought that I would give the banana peel a try before freezing it off. I feel for anyone with these warts on their foot as it is extremely painful.

I have much confidence in this remedy as it seems to be improving. I will keep everyone posted. Oh and I have faith in God to heal me! The date is july 9 2011. Hope this helps for everyone!

Hey, I'm not seeing the results from others starting to use it coming, just the starts, of the banana peel. so..................... here I go. Thursday night (early morning of Fri) the 28th. They're on my face. 3 that possibly are in different stages, but one definite wart. Will do all 3. will chronicle my progress here. I hope there's no fire in my house tonight cuz I will never be able to explain it to the firefighters!!

Hello again... this is an update for my July 9th post: I tried the banana peel for about 2 weeks. I thought that it looked like it was working but then I just got discouraged because I noticed that what looked like the wart drying up and falling off was actually just pieces of the banana peel drying up and falling off. I stopped putting on the banana peel after 2 weeks of basically no change. I am now trying clear nail polish. The wart looks terrible and is bright white in color now. I hope the nail polish works. I have been doing it for almost 2 weeks as well. I just wish there was a really fast way to get rid of the warts. I have been wearing a band-aid on my finger for 4 years now and I bet people are starting to wonder why.

Well, its been parts of 5 days. (one night I didn't have bananas). The wart on my face is smaller. The 'supposed' 2 others ditto. I also have been getting a ton of bumps on my forehead possibly due to high cholesterol(?)(so thinks my Dr!) and I am putting banana peel on my forehead also. These too have shrunk. re: 'ME', I am thinking you didn't give it enough time. The other people said it worked after a month at the earliest. These are on my face so I have nothing to lose except time.

Thanks for the update, keep me up to date on your progress w/the nail polish. If I end up going that route, I may have to think about using black polish and trying to pull them off as new moles! :)

My daughter has had a wart on the palm of her hand just where her ring finger begins for about 3 years. We tried compound w for a long time. It did very little good. We went to the dermatologist because she also begin to have more warts, mostly on her knee and she has a plantar wart.

The derm. froze them several times. They did not go away. Then the derm. froze them and put some medicine on that caused a blister to form. From this very painful treatment only one went away but returned later. We are now going to try the banana peel method. Will post later with results.

I have had warts on my nail bed and 3 fingers for a year. I had them frozen a couple of times and burned off (painful) by my dermatologist to no avail. I went through 5 bottles of Compound W and a similar product at Wal Mart - nothing worked. My husband saw the banana peel recommendation on Dr. Oz and I have been using it all week.

I am happy to report that this is the ONLY thing that is working for me - every morning, the warts look better and one is completely gone!! The only regret I have is that I spent almost $300 at the dermatologist for nothing....

update: its been 2 weeks and they are definitely smaller and more compact.

ann, how long did it take for your wart to leave? did you do the peel only at night? was it always a 'fresh' peel or one from the fridge you had used also the day before?

Funny thing, I am putting a full strip on my forehead and my soon to be 3 yr old granddaughter saw it. She squealed w/ laughter. She kept saying, "why do you have a banana peel on your forehead?" and kept touching it so as to reaffirm it was indeed a banana peel. I told her it was cuz I had a booboo on my face. She then pointed to her toe and told me she had a booboo there and could she have banana peel too?

WARNING: Don't quit the banana peel treatment too soon. I thought my planters wart was gone, so stopped the treatment, and about a week later noticed some discomfort when I stepped down on my foot. Looked at it, the wart was there, albeit very small. Now I'm back at the banana peel. Have no idea how long this will take, but it's better than anything else I've tried.
Does anyone know how often you should change the banana peel?

Well, I have been on the banana peel for 3 weeks. My granddaughter still thinks its hysterical. Wart way, way smaller and the one that was coming out and already showing it ugly head is almost gone. Liz, I change the banana peel every night. By morning its black a lot of times. Since I am putting a lg piece on my forehead and 3 smaller ones on the face, I use 1/2 banana ea nite. The other 1/2 goes in the frig for the next day. The bananas themselves are going in a ziploc in the freezer for smoothies or protein drinks. btw, I have a lot of bumps that arent pimples coming out on my forehead. I use the lg strip for this, just in case it helps. I will keep you all posted.

Sac,

I have been doing the banana peel for 2 weeks now and my warts look like they are totally gone. I am still treating them though because I want to make SURE they don't come back. I do the treatment at night and like you, I keep my banana peel in the fridge or keep one frozen as an extra. It still works. This is the most amazing treatment ever (and cheap entertainment for your granddaughter!! lol) Keep at it!!

Once the plantar wart appears to be gone, do a vinegar on cotton ball application. Tape it on and renew twice a day for five days. They say that in this final step the 5% acidity of the vinegar will kill off the remaining virus.

When I was a child I had a wart on the palm of my hand - my grandmother took a needle and twisted it down into the middle of the wart until I could feel it. She put a candle to the end of the needle that was sticking out of the wart and heated it until it was very hot. It wasn't that painful as I recall just red hot on the end. The treatment worked and the wart "died" and fell off in a week... I was young, but I remember it like it was yesterday.

For those with the Toenail fungus problem.

I got it in one toe. Why only one I sure don't know. LOL Anyway I got rid of it permanently by scraping all the fungus I could get at away. I then took a bottle of good ole Dettol Liquid disinfectant and using a clean q-tip applied it liberally all around and under the nail. I just kept doing this morning and nite and after a couple weeks it was all cleared up. Hope others will find this useful as well.
Cheers
Rjay

Glad I found this info re the wart/banana peel treatment.
Thanx

Here is my story! I have had a wart on my ring finger on the tip of the finger, where the nail is.. and it is nasty. I have had it frozen 2Xs and nothing. I have used apple cider vinegar 3Xs and nope it will not die! I am so sick of this thing! So I dipped it in bleach for 15 minutes.. um that did not do anything but cause pain. OK so now I have wrapped it in banana peel for 3 nights and I see nothing happening : ( I am not sure what to do.

This wart is flat and under the skin it seems. when I run my finger across it I feel it, but it is under the skin. I am desperate and so I will continue to use it. Tonight I am going to wrap it up extra good. The weird part is it still hasn't turned black, or brown. In the mornings it is white and nasty looking and I think ok it works but, as a few minutes pass I am unable to see I am even applying the peel. I am so sick of this, I just want a cure. I have been struggling with this for months. I have to keep my nail cut completely off and well it looks horrible, and is nasty. I would really love to hear of any suggestions.

I finally got rid of my warts once and for all. I used some salicylic acid treatment on the warts first (over the counter wart remover- cheapest kind you can buy). It made the warts look and feel terrible so I decided to stop putting it on. I was so desperate to get rid of the warts at that point so I decided to soak my hand in hot water for as long as I could in order to soften the warts. Then, using tweezers, I peeled whatever tissues I could from the surfaces of both warts.

I would wait a couple days in between soakings and then soak and peel off some more. After doing this about 3 times, the warts were pretty much invisible. At that point I started applying castor oil to the scar tissue with a q-tip before going to bed every night. I did this for about a month just to keep the warts from resurfacing. Any time I ever saw tiny black dots starting to form, I would pick them out with tweezers again and apply more castor oil. I don't put anything on now because it is no longer necessary. The warts are still gone and it has been almost 3 months!
I hope this helps some of you. Just soak those things and peel them off, little by little. Use castor oil as the last step.

In March 2011 I noticed 5 plantar warts, 4 on the left foot and 1 on the right. I went to the pharmacy for 'Wart Off' and painted them & covered with a bandaid bd. 4 popped out but one remained. I treated it the same way 2 or 3 times more then gave up and commenced podiatry treatment. It was a mosaic (3 in 1) & treated for 4 months 2 and sometimes 3 times a month with acid and cryosurgery, pared down to bleeding tissue prior to being burnt or frozen.

In September I quit all alcohol to improve my immune system & began seeing an emotion healer, essential oil soaks and application (lemon & tea tree) then Himalayan salt soak/rubs. In October I told the podiatrist I would not be back and commenced a low/no acid diet to improve my immune system & did one more 'wart off' treatment but occluded it with duct bd.

Last night I removed the not so deep mushy wart tissue and I'm now ready to use the banana peel treatment. I've just read that it should be applied at night so will commence that tonight. I've temporarily covered it with duct tape since last evening. Not sure whether to remove the banana skin in the morning and duct it over or reapply banana or leave it open. Any advice would be appreciated thank you, Kate.

Try Vaseline Petroleum Jelly, every day and night, rub into the nail, crevices etc... it works in about 4-6 months. The only other option is really BAD Fungicides which have side effects. A nurse told my Mom this... it worked for me. If you can wear sandals around the house and leave it really thick on your toenail it will work faster. :) Good Luck!

I lived on a farm in Iowa while growing up and my sister got rid of her warts by putting milk weed on them. Everyday she would brake a leaf off the plant and dab the mild on her warts and they went away.

January 8 2011 - SIgning on for treatment.
Large wart on left knee.
Tried burning off with dry ice 5 times.
Wart has just got bigger.
Have used sandpaper to take top off wart.
Have used Banana skin and band-aid.
Will report back next week.

I wrote my intention to commence banana skin & duct tape treatment on 12th December and have done so for a month with no result. I'm still off the alcohol and maintaining a moderate diet with increased alkalizing foods to improve my immune system but not detoxing any more.
Not sure whether to continue with the banana peel or move over to lemon oil x 5 times daily & leave open. The surrounding skin on my foot is breaking down from constant occlusion of duct tape by night and bandaid by day.

I used that remedy on hand warts with success. The thistle milk turns them black and they eventually come out - it takes ages though, Kate

It wasn't thistle milk she used it was milk weed. I don't remember it turning black or that it took that long. She just put it on everyday and it was just during the summer since it was in Iowa and of course we don't have milk weed when it is cold.

When I was about 6 or 7 I had a wart on my hand and my Grandpa bought it from me. He gave me a penny and said to hide it and never tell anyone where I put it. I did and my wart went away and he said he got one. I never say his, but mine was gone. I thought my Grandpa could walk on water so maybe just the fact that I believed him was enough.

I had a huge wart on my right middle finger, right next to the nail. I had it frozen off at the dermatologist. It grew back, bigger than before. I had it frozen off again. It grew back twice as big. I started rubbing banana peel on it several times a day and it was gone in about 3 weeks. Just developed a wart on my forehead and have begun doing the same. It's already shrinking.

I don't really care why. It just works.

Ok so I have had a plantars wart on my right foot for almost ten years. I had no idea what it was, i thought it was a callous because in that exact same spot i stepped on a thorn and when it had healed over the wart was there.

Finally the doctor told me it was a plantars wart. I tried getting it frozen off, I tried otc freezing and the liquid remover, these worked a little but it always grew back. I have been using the banana peel method for about ten days.( duct taping a banana peel to my foot and changing it every 24 hrs) within the first few days i noticed a real difference in the appearance of the wart, it seemed sort of like a crater (with the inside sort of shrinking inwards) after a few days of this I filed it down with a pumice stone and I have to say that it looks very good but I still have a white patch with little tiny black specks. and over the past few days of treatment I have not noticed any results.

it seems slightly more painful. im not really sure if I should continue. my foot is very irritated and I have red bumps on it like I have had a reaction to the duct tape. Any advice? am I doing something wrong and where should I proceed from here?

People's Pharmacy response: Some people are quite sensitive to adhesives, and you may be one of them. You might need to find a different way to hold the banana peel on your foot or try a different wart remedy.
