Overview
Cardura is used to treat high blood pressure. It may also be prescribed in combination with other drugs to treat congestive heart failure.
Doctors may also prescribe it to treat symptoms of benign prostate enlargement.
Side Effects and Interactions
People taking Cardura may experience drowsiness, and driving or operating complex equipment should be avoided unless the patient discovers that this is not the case for him or her.
Dizziness appears to be the most common reaction, followed by fatigue.
Abnormal vision, runny nose, and low blood pressure have also been reported. Report any symptoms to the physician promptly.
Cardura does not appear to interact with many other medications, but check with your doctor and pharmacist to make sure.
Special Precautions
The first few doses of Cardura may cause dizziness or fainting, especially for older people.
Be especially careful when sitting or standing up until your body adjusts.
Take the first dose at bedtime to minimize the risk of falling. If you miss a few pills or change to a new dose, exercise the same level of caution.
Taking the Medicine
Cardura may be taken when convenient, with or without food. It is taken once a day.

Cardura works for me, but I want to take nothing, exercise and diet, so asap I will be weaning off Atenolol that I was never informed about the effects and consequences. I did not know about this site or my life would not be in turmoil right now. Please tell everyone you know and tell them to tell everyone they know not to START taking Atenolol as first line treatment.
There are a million other better choices than Atenolol and it is as old as the pyramids and there are many better first line treatments for regular Stage 1 HPT. It has ruined a good part of my life and still is as Doctors will not take you off it. Mine told me to get another doctor if I wanted to stop taking it!!!
Cardura is ok with me, just take before bed and be ready to sleep! Don't be cooking or doing anything that needs attention even in a minute as you can go right to sleep. No lie. Good luck and be thankful just taking Cardura
I was prescribed doxazosin for High Blood Pressure, about three years ago. It hasn't worked very well for me. My blood pressure ranges between 120/70 and 145/80 most of the time, with occasional higher readings. I have noticed some Short term Memory loss, but since I'm also on statins I can't really blame it on one or the other. Being a heart transplant patient, I really must trust my Dr. to make the right diagnosis and take the medications as she prescribes
